Natural Light Beauty · Re-introduction to Natural Light with Josh Eskridge...
Starting out a couple years ago I always shot in natural light, I didn't own any strobes. Then over time I began to work exclusively with artificial light, becoming tunnel visioned with them if you will. While conversing with Josh on feedback from another set I shot, he invited me to assist on a shoot with him, Pam Jean and Louisa Kleinert of Louisville's Beauty Patrol and 2012 Ms Kentucky Teen USA Tiffany Cline. He explained it would be a good experience to essentially step out of my comfort zone. While there, he then offered me to shoot a couple looks and explore natural lighting... One simply does not decline with this caliber of a team! I was blown away by the results achieved that day. And now here's the first image from the set I shot with our talented team... Enjoy!

Natural Light Beauty · Re-calibrating my digital darkroom workflow...
Sometimes in order to grow in your art you have to take a step back and look at what your doing, where could you improve. At times you may need to start from scratch, other times you may just need some fine tuning to your workflow. While working through our coaching session, Josh pointed out a couple things he felt I could improve on for the higher end retouching involved with Beauty and Fashion. It was a breath of fresh air to see it all come together after a few simple changes, and with that I'm proud to release the second image from our team's Natural Light set. Cheers!
Natural Light Beauty · Monochrome
Now for this image, it was such a breath of fresh air to revisit my monochrome roots with a new mindset on retouching. This is probably my favorite from the set and I'm super stoked to finally release it. I'll have a blog up soon with the entire set. Focused.
Natural Light Beauty · Conclusion
Here's the final image from my re-introduction to Natural Light set with Josh. It's ironic because this image is actually from the first look I shot, we were literally warming up as I captured this. This has been such a refreshing and insightful experience and again, I thank the team for inviting me, cheers to the future my friends!
Editing Room Floor
As with any shoot, there are going to plenty of images that hit the editing room floor, for some reason or another they just don't make the cut for the final collection or portfolio. Here is a perfect example of that, I was absolutely drawn to this image, her expression, the moody lighting, the relaxed pose, however when up against the other image with this look (see above image with Tiffany in front of the paintings) it simply fell short. Yet as I started to go through and clean out the left over images I came across this one again, and like that one last bacon sprinkled glazed doughnut that just sits there and lures luring you in, I decided to go ahead and edit it. I think it stands solid on it's own, what do you think? Let me know below in the comments and until the next shoot... cheers my friends!
